Another example of personification is when the author writes “The boy asked his duck, but the duck floated away, he didn’t know.” when referring to the boys rubber duck suggesting that it has the capacity to think and retain information like a human. Lost and found repeatedly features the use of personification, The most obvious of this is the penguin being given humanistic emotions of being sad and needing a friend. The story is told in third person, for example the author depicts the boy as the boy and the penguin as the penguin. Lost and found contains numerous language features throughout the story. The story follows the penguin and the boy on there journey where the boy soon realizes that like him the penguin was lonely and in need of a friend. The book is about a young boy who is trying to help a penguin find his way because he believes he is homesick. This week I have chosen to explore the language features in the children’s book, ‘Lost and found” by Oliver Jeffers.
